I have to attend a friend’s baby shower and I had no idea what to get them for a gift. To make things harder, they have not registered for items that they need anywhere either.

So I have to come up with my own ideas of what to bring as a gift.

I have seen babies and toddlers around town carrying what I now know are called Lovies. A lovie is basically a security blanket with an animal head and arms on the corner of the blanket. These are different from the ones that only have the head, and personally I prefer a head and arms because it makes the animal more huggable. I bought a monkey that is just adorable.

I didn’t want to show up with the one item so I looked around and found these really cool things called Tubbies, which are basically hooded towels that are for after bath to keep your baby warm and also dry them off. The ones that I looked at had animal faces on the hood. They also come with a sun face and even flower petals. I ended up getting one with a frog head on it.

The last things that I bought were Burp Cloths because you always need those on hand. I wanted my burp cloths to be unique so I did a little searching and ended up finding some that were embroidered and personalized. I was tempted to get my favorite sports team to poke at my friend, but instead chose one that celebrated their Italian heritage.

Needless to say, my friends were very happy with my selections and I was very happy to bring gifts that were unique.
